SUMMER DAY CAMP – KIDS OF THE KINGDOM
ST. JOHN TAKING THIS SUMMER OFF (2017)
It is with regret that St John has decided not to hold our Summer Day Camp program this year. Due to church staffing changes we need to concentrate our energy on planning for the future of our church so that we can remain a vital part of the east side neighborhood in which we reside and worship. Unfortunately, this year we simply can’t give the camp program the attention and time it deserves.
We are proud of the two decades we have been able to consistently provide this program for kids in our community each summer. Our goal was always to be more than a glorified child watch and believe that we achieved it with learning opportunities while at the same time keeping it fun. You would think that after 20+ years the program would have gotten stale and boring, but that was far from the truth. In fact, over the past few seasons the day camp continued to grow in what we were able to offer and accomplish.
In closing, we want you to know how difficult our decision to cancel the program was to make. We will so miss seeing all the families and staff that we’ve grown to know and love. Thus, we are working on plans for a one day gathering of those who attended camp last year at which time we hope to provide school supplies, share some food and have some fun time playing age relevant games or just visiting with each other. So keep watching for more information as plans for the gathering come together.
(Update: Watch for details for August 6 event)
Worship at St. John continues each Sunday at 9:30AM (9:00am beginning June 4, 2017)
and as we’ve said before, you are always welcome to join us in God’s house.
UPDATE: March 12, 2017
Since this is the first time in 20 years we won't be running our own Summer Day Camp for 8 weeks, we've been looking for a list of summer camps for our attendees to review other options.
Thank you to Great Lakes Bay Moms for gathering and publishing this one.
